The external brass shell is machined and polished to provide easy fitting while the bearing diameters are precision machined to the designated shaft size with the correct clearance for efficient water lubrication. The specially compounded nitrile rubber is securely bonded to the shell with all tolerances maintained to ensure proper lubrication integrity. Johnson employs the highest quality materials that are inherently resistant to all known chemicals, oil and grease to ensure a non-corrosive anti-electrolytic bearing. Sleeve bearings are usually installed by light press-fitting and locked in place with cone-pointed set screws. The naval brass cutless bearing have full type approval from the American Bureau of Shipping and are available in either imperial or metric sizes with custom diameter available upon request.
